New mindful cafe in the heart of Armadale
Nestled in the heart of Armadale only a few metres from Kings Arcade is the setting for Melbourne’s newest mindful gourmet offering, Walk Don’t Run, a café designed with the intention of creating a mindful space, to rejuvenate and captivate foodies and health focused individuals alike.
Walk Don’t Run provides a space and menu where people are able to leave feeling nourished and light, knowing that they have enjoyed the best possible healthy and organic fresh produce available – locally sourced, immaculately prepared and mindfully consumed.
Teaming with Chef and co-owner Ryo Doyama, owners Mario Minichilli and Vincent Conti – the minds behind Melbourne’s own Prana Chai and Merchants Guild – have created a menu style that has seen the clever incorporation of super foods into every dish, while disguising the nutritious offerings with delicious flavours and a unique style.
The trio have also taken on the tradition of a milky espresso pick-me-up, instead offering customers French press, single origin coffee – the natural sweetness and taste encouraging customers to hold the milk and sugar – or maybe opt for a fresh cold-pressed juice or herbal tea as an alternative start to the day.
“The focus is on ensuring customers feel nourished and energised when they leave, like they have been good to themselves”, said Minichilli. “We want a health conscious person to pick anything from the menu and not have to worry about what is in the dish – as it is all super good for you because if the fresh produce isn’t organic, it doesn’t make it onto the plate”
Walk Don’t Run provides an atmosphere reflecting the clean, simplicity and beauty of Doyama’s menu. The space has been designed by Wendy Bergman of Bergman & Co, the mind behind Kong, Hello Sailor, Taxi Kitchen, Mr Miyagi, The Meatball & Wine Bar and Green Park, with a focus on unique one-off pieces designed by Please Please Please, mindfully created and immaculately applied.
“This has been a really exciting time for us to create a space which we believe will have people smiling as they walk out and feeling a little bit better than when they arrived – More nourished, relaxed and ready,” said Minichilli.
